Update: Despite the fact that we were still 2 bars until an empty tank of gas and that if you do run empty, a full battery will keep you going another 25 miles, we filled up for the first time this weekend anyway. It's been 3 weeks and we're at 43 mpg. Not bad at all :)

So jealous! I hope you are loving your new car. Within this past week, my husband and I sold one of our cars so that we can be a single car family. Our single car still happens to be a Toyota 4Runner which doesn't get good mileage, but having one car (verses two) is a step in the right direction, I guess. Cheers!
Yes, it definitely is the step in the right direction!! We tried 1 car for a few weeks, but it just wasn't working for us. I totally admire what you are doing! There is a also an option called Flexcar (http://www.flexcar.com/). I think you reserve time for a car and drive it away from it's parked spot. It's like having a communcal car. It's ideal for people who only need a car a few times a week.
